In 1997 Faith Chapel received the Order of St. Barnabus award. This award is usually given to an individual for outstanding service to the church. During the months prior to 1997, the doors of Faith Chapel were about to be closed for good. The five Ladies of Faith and a few friends were not about to let that happen. The first task was to convince the new pastor that the church not only needed to stay open, but that it should grow to become an important part of the Bruceville community. The church did stay open, and saw a 600 percent increase in attendance. No one individual deserved all the credit, so an exception was made, and the award was given to the church. We were told that this had never been done before.
